RUTH E. BUFFENBARGER, 83, died Thursday at McCray Memorial Hospital, Kendallville. She retired as a teacher in 1972. She taught at York Center Consolidated School and Albion Grade School. Surviving are her husband, Wilbur; two daughters, Sue Sorgenfrei of North Canton, Ohio, and Ann Anderson of Brownsburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Earl Butz of West Lafayette, Verlo Butz of Chicago and Dale Butz of Bloomington, Ill. Services at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Kendallville. Calling from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and form 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Orr Funeral Home, Ligonier. Calling also one hour before services at the church. Burial in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. Memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church, Kendallville, or Merriam Christian Chapel, Merriam.
