Daughter of Guy Vernon Barnes and May Ella Williams; wife of Allen Gordon Finley, Sr. She was very active in community affairs. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, the local DAR and the Musical Arts Club. She taught piano in her home and in the Wilkes County schools for many years. She was extremely active in the North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church as organist, choir member, Sunday School teacher, and Junior Choir leader. (from the Wilkes County Heritage Book, author Karen B.
