Betsy Sue Compton Hess, age 83, of Vansant, Virginia passed away Tuesday (June 13, 2023) at her home.
Born January 23, 1940, in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Evans and Isa Maine Powers Compton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Billy Raymond Hess on October 6, 2022, and several brothers and sisters. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Left to cherish her memories are her five children, Annette Stevens, Tonya and Carmel Rasnake, Donna Bennett, Melissa and Al Henderson, and Billy and Jackie Hess; twelve grandchildren, Nick, Adrienne, Tyler, Miranda, Britteney, Amanda, Amber, Emily, Luke, Katlyn, Alanza, and Milena; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 17, 2023, in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Al Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hess Family Cemetery at the home. Pallbearers will be Nick Stevens, Tyler Rasnake, Luke Henderson, Tristan Stevens, Isaac Looney, and Donovan Stevens. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM on Friday, June 16, 2023.
