Harvey Adair was 19 years old at the time of his death and had resided in Hamilton, Illinois, although he was born in Ohio. He enlisted June 13, 1861. He was mustered July 30, 1861. He re-enlisted and remustered Feb. 22, 1864. Harvey died of disease March 30, 1864 in a hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is buried in Section 1, grave 376. This information is according to "Roster and Record of Iowa Soldiers in the War of the Rebellion," by E. H. English, state printer, and E. D. Chassell, state binder in Des Moines, Iowa, 1908.
