"To brothers in service is not Spotlight news — but when both are selected as instructors, that IS unusual. So permit us to introduce 2nd Lt. John M. Dore, who was graduated last Monday from Eagle Pass, Tex., and his brother Pfc. George T. Dore. Sons of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Dore of Loudon Road, Latham, John has been in service since Sept. 29, 1942, while George enlisted in the Marines Sept. 16, 1941. John is en route to Eagle Pass, to take up new duties as pilot instructor. George is instructor in a tank division at Oceanside, Calif. John was employed at the Albany Engineer depot, Port of Albany. "WOUNDED - Pfc. George T. Dore, USMC, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Dore, Loudon road, Latham. Pvt Dore, a veteran of the Marshall Islands campaign, was wounded on Saipan on June 17. A graduate of Christian' Brothers academy and a former employe of the American Locomotive company, he has been overseas 14 months." - THE TIMES UNION, ALBANY, N.Y., THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 07, 1944, PAGE 07.

"WOUNDED - Pfc. George T. Dore, Private Dore, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Dore, Loudon Rd., Latham, who was wounded last June during the Saipan invasion, suffered second injuries on Iwo Jima, the Navy Department has informed his family. The Marine, a member of the 4th Division, was wounded the fourth day of the Iwo campaign, and has been evacuated from the island for treatment at a base hospital in the Marianas.
