Born in Hutchinson, KS to William Ivy Yoakum and Lois Irene Harden. She came to Okla. City in 1932 where she attended Bath, Webster and graduated from Northeast High School in 1940.

She was a long-time member of Kelham Baptist Church.

She worked for Dr. Charles Smith and Dr. Robert Outlaw for 24 years as business manager. She was president of Okla. County Medical Assistants Assn., member of American Assn. of Medical Secretaries, American College of Medical Group Managers.

She was appointed the first executive secretary to the Oklahoma District Branch of the American Psychiatric Assn. as well as to the American College of Psychiatrists. She retired in 1985 and then worked for Dr. Stanley McCampbell for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and 3 brothers, Clarence Wilmoth, Dallas Ezra and Virgil Ralph.

She is survived by her sons, Leon DeSpain of Plano, TX and Glen DeSpain and wife Diana of Tuttle, OK; by her grandchildren and spouses, Craig DeSpain and wife Sharon of Hudson Oaks, TX, Kevin DeSpain and wife Wendy of Lake Dallas, TX, Amber (DeSpain) and husband Sheldon Lambrecht of Tuttle, OK, Chad DeSpain and wife Lisa of Okla. City, Jeremy DeSpain and wife Megan of Edmond, OK; by her great grandchildren, Sydney (DeSpain) and husband Jack Parker of Austin, TX, Bailey (Lambrecht) and husband Connor Litterell of Tuttle, OK, Craig Jr. DeSpain of Hudson Oaks, TX, Madison, Gabriel and Aiden DeSpain of Lake Dallas, TX, Meagan Lambrecht of Tuttle, OK, Charlie Malone and Jacob DeSpain of Edmond, OK, Case, Cori and Coda DeSpain of Okla. City; and by her great great grandchildren, Harper and Kollins Litterell of Tuttle, OK.

In her final days, she received excellent care from her family, Shirley Mayfield, Debbie Rice and Complete Hospice Services.

A memorial service will be held at Mercer Adams Chapel at 12 noon, July 8, 2023. Interment at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Okla. City, Okla.
