. James R. Wiggins, 75, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, at his home in Wood River after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 10, 1932, in Eldorado to Marshall and Lorene (Hendrick) Wiggins.

His marriage to the former Emma Jean McManus took place May 19, 1957, in East Alton. She survives.

The U.S. Air Force veteran was an accountant for General Motors for 23 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Church of God of Abrahamic Faith. He enjoyed playing golf with Bob O'Brien and enjoyed his rose garden.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Daniel and Karen Wiggins of Austin, Texas and Paul Wiggins of Alton; one sister, Loretta Patton of Trenton; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Velma Wiggins of Eldorado; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Pastors Craig Wagganer and Dan Powers officiated at services 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church in East Alton.

Burial was at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.

Memorials may be made to the American Stroke Society.
