Charlotte Ann Akins, 79, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, in a local healthcare facility with her family by her side.

Charlotte had lived in the area since 1972, and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She attended Covenant Baptist Church. She had retired from Coppinger Color Lab.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Akins; her parents, Charles and Irene Moss; two children, Kenneth Wade Akins and Ricky McDonald; two granddaughters, Kayla Akins and Lindsey Dawn Akins; two brothers, Harold Moss and Billy Moss; and a sister, Janet Oliver.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Jay Akins of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Alissa Drew Fasig, Autumn Newman, and Cody Lee Akins; and two great-grandchildren, Roman Fasig and Aiden Fasig. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Charlotte also leaves behind her loyal friend, her comfort dog, Jackson.

A celebration of her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with David Lyles, John Holland, Dennis Gibson, Byron Minor, Cody Akins, and Greg Bledsoe serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
