Wayne "Wayna" Morris Honeycutt, 75, of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023 at his place of business doing what he loved most.

Wayne was born February 16, 1948 in Cabarrus County to the late O.L. and Clarice Honeycutt. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Honeycutt, and sister, Sandy Measmer.

Wayne was a graduate of the last class of Harrisburg High School (1966). Alice and Wayne were childhood sweethearts and were married for 39 years. They dearly loved their grandkids and invested heavily in their upbringing. Wayna was affectionately known as "MawPaw." Wayne saved for and built the family home with his dad. Wayne proudly owned and operated Wayne's BW Parts since 1994. The family would travel up and down the east coast to VW swap meets and drag races with the IVWA, SEVWA, and AVWA. Wayne never met a stranger and would easily talk for hours on end about Volkswagens, Lionel trains, WWII era history (including guns). Wayne was a hard worker and enjoyed working with his hands. He had an engineer's mind and was always working on several projects. Wayna tried to do a lot for the LGBTQ community with the Time Out Youth and PFLAG. Wayne "Wayna" will be greatly missed and forever loved.

Survivors include daughters, Glendie (Adrian) Cobb, and Rebba (Jason) Clayton, both of Harrisburg; grandchildren, Amity Honeycutt, Jessie Jacobs, Joseph Jacobs, Michael Jacobs and Merlianne Jacobs; four great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, John Measmer; a nephew and two nieces, all of Texas; and other extended family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to PFLAG Concord/Kannapolis, 38 Church St N, Concord NC 28025
