Howard Foster Baldwin, 79, of Alpine, passed away Friday morning, June 16, 2023 at Reid Health, Richmond.
He was born July 17, 1943 in Fayette County, one of six children of Dewey Foster and Virginia "June" Rowe Baldwin. He was a graduate of Connersville High School.
On February 23, 1963, he married the love of his life, Sondra "Sandy" Kay Kirk, in Connersville. Together, they lived most of their adult lives in the Alpine community. Mrs. Baldwin passed away October 8, 2022.
For over thirty years, he was employed at Roots-Dresser until his retirement.
Along with his family, Howard enjoyed everything about racing. He could often be found racing stock cars at various tracks in the area, including those in Anderson, Winchester, Liberty, and Mt. Lawn Speedway in New Castle. A motorcycle enthusiast, Howard also loved riding his Harley.
Survivors include four children, Dale Baldwin of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Doug (Diana) Baldwin of Columbia, Indiana, Dawn (Mike) Eversole and Debbie Baldwin, both of Connersville; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; five siblings, Ron Baldwin, Jan (Dennis) Cooper, Pam Patterson, Daniel (Janet) Baldwin, all of Alpine, Indiana, and Mary Underwood of Connersville; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Joyce) Kirk of Plainfield, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his wife of 59 years, Sandy Baldwin, he was preceded in death by a son, Devon Ray Baldwin, who passed away October 24, 2006; his parents; a granddaughter, Maria; a brother-in-law, Jack Patterson; and three sisters-in-law, Diane Baldwin, Connie Kirk, and Barbara Adkins.
Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Howard's brother, Daniel Baldwin, officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery.
