KALKASKA - Vern Bowen, 68, of Kalkaska, died Fri., March 12, 1993, at his residence. Mr. Bowen moved to Kalkaska County 20 years ago from Holland. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW 2, and was a retired electrician. He was a member of Land O'Lakes Post 8684, V.F.W. Mr. Bowen was bom in Ionia on Nov. 23,1924 to Roy and Ora Ehl Bowen. On Sept. 21,1985, in Spenccr, he was
married to Ruth Hodges who survives. Also surviving are one son, Daniel Bowen of West Olive; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Linda) DeGraaf of Zeeland, and Mrs. Karen White of Mecosta; two step daughters. Mrs. Kimberly Birdsall of Kalamazoo, and Carrie Taylor of Onaway; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delos and Merrill, and one sister, Faith. Funeral services were held Mon., March 15,1993, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Gary Wales, pastor of the East Boardman United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County. Military rites were were provided by Land O'Lakes Post 8684.
