Mrs. Phoebe J. Allen, 89, of 92 N. Hickory died at 11 a.m. Saturday in Medical Center following an extended illness. Born Aug. 27, 1889 in Vinton County to Milton and Nannie Turner Matheny, she was married March 25, 1938, to Glenn M. Allen who survives along with three daughters, Mrs. Don F. (Marcella "Babe") Stautzenberger, Benson, Ariz, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Weaver, Hollywood, Fla, and Mrs. William (Pella) Cruse, Fort Myers, 10 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, an infant daughter, and a brother, Talmage Matheny.
The Rev. Eric Van Buskirk will officiate at the funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Ware Funeral Home, where friends may call 6-9 this evening. Cremation will follow the service.
