Helen R. Amoroso, 86, longtime resident of Mechanicville, died Saturday at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a brief illness. Born August 31, 1922, daughter of the late Andrew and Victoria Norywick Rivers, she was wife of the late Guy Amoroso, Sr., who died in 1994. A seamstress, Helen had worked for the former Korell Dress Co. of Mechanicville and Troy Town Shirt of Cohoes. She was a great baker, who enjoyed crocheting and flower gardening. Her best times were sharing with her children and her beloved grandchildren and families. Survivors include her three children, Guy and wife, Patricia Amoroso, Jr., Karen Fuller, and Anthony and wife, Janet Amoroso, all of Mechanicville; six grandchildren, Tracy Micklas, Kathleen Gully Scott, Stephen and Ryan Fuller, Joy Peeters and Anthony Amoroso, Jr.; and five great-grandchildren, Belen, Sophia, Joshua, Seth and Kerr. Also Helen's brother, John (Annie) Rivers of Stillwater; along with nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister, Mary Foley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Assumption-St. Paul William Street Church, Mechanicville. Calling hours at the William Street Church on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Entombment in St. Paul's Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to either the Stillwater Rescue Squad or Mechanicville's John Ahearn Rescue Squad, in loving memory of Helen R. Amoroso.
