Mrs. Anna Durfee, longtime Sundance resident and a resident of Crook County since 1907, died here Saturday. She was 80.
She was the widow of A.B. (Bud) Durfee, Sundance businessman who died Nov. 11, 1962. Mrs. Durfee entered Crook County Memorial Hospital Saturday morning and died there late in the afternoon.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the United Methodist Church here with the Rev. Gene Hagerman, pastor of the Sundance Church, and the Rev. Robert Roth, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Belle Fourche, officiating.
Burial was in Mount Moriah Cemetery under the direction of the Fidler-Roberts Northeastern Wyoming Funeral Chapel. Pall bearers were Frank Blakeman, Maurice Classick, Rex Dillon, Charles Durfee, Jim Durfee and John Lindsey.
A memorial has been established for Crook County Memorial Hospital.
Anna Durfee was born May 22, 1895 at Seymour, Tex., the daughter of James and Kate (Davidson) Hardy. At 12 years of age, she moved with her mother and her brothers and sisters to the Devils Tower area. When she was 18, she moved to Morristown, S.D.
In 1916, she was married to Aaron B. Durfee at Morristown. The couple lived in Morristown and Aberdeen, S.D. and then moved to Reeder, N.D. where they resided until January 1943 when the family moved to Rapid City. After 15 months in Rapid City, the Durfees moved to Sundance.
She was a member of Electa Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Durfee is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George (Hazel)Kellogg, Rapid City; one sister, Mrs. Eunice McDowell, Flandreau, S.D.; two granchildren - Mrs. Karl (Andra) Kellogg Blaufuss and Charles Kellogg; and five great granchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Russell Durfee, who was killed in action in June 1944 during World War II, and two sisters and two brothers.
