Waverly Camille Crenshaw Hoskin, born on August 18, 1928, in Jefferson County to Ivan H and Anna Belle Hollander Crenshaw.

Waverly passed away on June 22, 2023.

She spent her formative years on the family farm in Hacklebarney (rural Van Buren County, Iowa) where she took a horse drawn school bus to VB County Schools in Stockport, Iowa, Libertyville, Iowa and then Douds, Iowa.

After graduating high school in 1946, Waverly worked at the Abstract Office in Keosauqua and met the love of her life, Willard Harold Hoskin.

Willard was a skate boy at the local roller rink where he would strap on her wheels and teach her how to skate alongside him. They married on November 5, 1950, beginning a beautiful partnership filled with love and adventure.

Willard joined the Air Force, and Waverly worked at Guarantee Abstract in Wichita Falls, Texas, for four years before returning to Keosauqua, Iowa, where they built their lifelong home. In 1955, they welcomed their cherished son, Mikel Ivan Hoskin.

Throughout her career, Waverly served as a bookkeeper, worked in the Assessor's Office, and spent 17 years as a dedicated Correctional Officer at the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office. Retirement brought new joys as she and Willard traveled the Midwest as Hawkeye Pedal Pull, organizing pedal pulls for children. While Willard's mechanical prowess built tractors and sleds, Waverly expertly managed logistics and operations, forging special connections and becoming "Grandma" to countless children.

Waverly's love and passion extended especially to her family. She delighted in cooking and hosting expansive Sunday family dinners, where she taught her granddaughters to cook and passed down treasured recipes. Her granddaughters, Mindy (Ryan) Torrey, Jennifer (Daniel) Lewis, Nikki (Damian) Butts, and Fallon Huffman, found in Waverly a steadfast source of support and unwavering loyalty. Her strategic mind and unmatched attention to detail were evident in her love for chess, cards, golf and watching baseball. Waverly's grace and strength set a high standard for what it meant to be a Hoskin.

Waverly's legacy continues through her devoted husband Willard, loving son Mikel and daughter-in-law Debbie, four adoring granddaughters and her beloved great-grandchildren, Olivya Lile, Cameron Butts, Hayden Huffman, Monroe Torrey, and Lochlan Lewis. They are blessed to have had her in their lives and she will forever be remembered for her boundless love, resilience, and the immeasurable impact she had on all who knew her.

A Funeral Service for Waverly will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday June 27, 2023 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with Pastor Mary Kathryn Hart officiating. Visitation will open at 2:00 PM on Monday June 26, 2023 at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 PM. Burial will immediately follow the service in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua. Gifts to a memorial in Waverly's honor, to be designated later by the family, may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 1003 7th St. Keosauqua, IA 52565.
