HANOVER, WV - Roderfield Lester, 73, died at 10 p.m. Monday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Hatfield.

He was born at Hanover, January 10, 1890, a son of the late Amos Lester (1848-1937) and Edith "Edy" Cline-Lester (1850-1916). He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena England-Lester (1889-1946), whom he married on February 25, 1909 in Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1909, Page 135, Application Date: February 17, 1909); his children: Merbie H. Lester-Shepherd (1910-1939), Blanche Lester (1911-Deceased), Luna "Margie" Lester-Hatfield (1917-1988), & Nancy Lester-Bishop (1919-1947); and his siblings: Paris D. Lester (1868-1878), Isaac M. Lester (1870-Deceased), J.W. Lester (1871-1876), Chloe E. Lester (1873-Deceased), Arminta C. Lester (1874-Deceased), John D. Floyd Lester (1883-1887), & Iverson "Pine Hill" Lester (1885-1956).

Survivors include two sons, Poytan Lester (B. 1929) of Cincinatti, OH, and Everett Lester of Iaeger; four daughters, Mrs. Nora Lester-West (1913-Deceased), Mrs. Luna "Margie" Lester-Hatfield (1917-1988), Mrs. Norpha Lester (B. 1922), and Mrs. Clara Lester-West (B. 1924), all of Hanover; three brothers, William David "Dave" R.C. Lester (1878-1971), Jacob "Jake" J. Lester (1879-Deceased), and William Harrison "Absalom" Lester (1876-1965), all of Hanover; and two sisters, Nancy Louisa "Louise" Lester-Deskins-Bailey (1871-Deceased) of Hanover and Mrs. Minnie Steele (Deceased) of Steele.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Hanover Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Ferguson in charge. Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery at Hanover. The body will be taken to the Hatfield home in Hanover at 2:00 p.m. today from the Evans Funeral Home in Oceana.
