NOTE: Combined obituary for Mr. and Mrs. Neel

*********************
Vera June Neel, "June" was born Vera June Maginn on June 12, 1937, to Joseph and Vera Maginn in Yakima, Washington. She was the 4th of 5 siblings born to the Maginn family. She attended Garfield Elementary School, Franklin Junior High, and finally North Yakima High School where she met the love of her life, Edward Neel. She graduated from North Yakima High in 1955 eventually going to work for Cascade Broadcasting Company and KIMA where she worked in the film editing room splicing commercials by hand into each day's programming and retired from KIMA in 1970. June started a home cleaning business when her children were in high school and was a long-time member of 1st Presbyterian Church teaching Sunday school to preschool children for over 35 years. Throughout her life, her devotion to her faith in Jesus Christ and her family were foremost in her life. June passed gracefully on June 8th, 2023, with her son's and daughter-in-law by her side.

Edward Ellis Neel Jr. was born on April 6th, 1937, to Edward and Maxine Neel in Joseph, Oregon. He was the second of two children and only son of Edward and Maxine. The Neel family moved to Yakima when Eddie was 7 years old and settled in a house on South 8th Ave. when his father was transferred to the valley by Pacific Power to operate the drop plant on the Naches River. Ed attended North Yakima High school where he met the love of his life Vera June Maginn. He graduated from North Yakima High in 1957. Ed worked for Howatt Archery, The Manhasset Company and Yakima Industries making early-day car top carriers and ski sleds before taking a job with Cascade Natural Gas Co. which he started on June's birthday in 1967. Ed retired from Cascade Gas in 2002, after 35 years of service. After his retirement he volunteered for the Yakima Valley Trolleys serving beside his son Scott on the board of directors and becoming the fix-it man for the Trolley system for many years. Ed was an accomplished self-taught machinist, mechanic, welder and would drop everything to help someone in need. If anyone asked, Ed's answer was always yes. Ed passed peacefully and lovingly on June 11th, 2023 with his sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren by his side. Ed passed just 3 days after his beloved wife of 64 years, joining her in Heaven two hours before the start of June's 86th birthday.

Ed and June eloped and were married in front of the Justice of the Peace in Goldendale, WA on April 29th, 1959. They continued to live in Yakima the rest of their lives. They purchased the house next door to June's parents and in 1970, their first son David was born, followed by their second son Scott in May 1971. Ed and June enjoyed their work but most of all they enjoyed spending time with each other and their two sons.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Edward Sr. and Maxine, and his sister Wanda Jones of Yakima. June was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Vera, her two brothers Joeseph and Jim Maginn, and her two sisters Joanne Ebbers and Pearl Berleen. Ed and June are survived by their sons David and Scott Neel, daughter in law Jane Neel and two grandchildren Maginn and Sarah Neel. A celebration of their lives will be held at Keith and Keith Funeral Home in Yakima on July 1, at 11:00, with interment to follow at West Hills Memorial Park.
