Dr. Stephen C. Beuttel passed away in his sleep at home on March 10, 2023.

He received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest College in 1967. He received his medical degree from Duke Medical School in 1971 and continued at Duke doing his internship, residency, and fellowship. Steve then served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years retiring as Captain, Chief of Medicine at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. After retirement from the Navy, Steve served as medical director of the Veterans Outpatient Clinic when it was located on Kimel Park Dr. in Winston-Salem. He retired at the age 70. Steve was awarded the title of Master of the American College of Physicians in 2006.

Steve married his high school sweetheart, Lois in June 1967. He is survived by his wife of 55 years and children, Ashley Macko, William Beuttel and Charles Beuttel and grandson Ryan. A private memorial service will be held at a future date. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
