Thelma Mae Thurman Chism, Our precious Thelma Dear, entered the gates of heaven at 12:03am on Feb. 1, 2008 at the age of 93. Thelma Dear was born on December 3, 1914 in San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, A.W. Pete Chism, brother, John Thurman, and sister Ruby Neckar. She is survived by her sister Virginia Faurie, daughter Kaye Edwards and husband Ken, son Jim Chism and wife Janet, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other adoptive family around the world. Thelma Dear will be remembered for her fantastic cooking, sweet smile, gentle words, loving spirit, and the meticulous way she dressed. She served her Lord with all her heart on this earth and we are assured that her rewards will be great in heaven. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 2:00pm in Grace Chapel, Castle Hills First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to send donations to Vitas Hospice Care, 5430 Fredericksburg Rd., Ste 200, San Antonio, TX 78229. Sunset Funeral Home.
