CHANDLER DOROTHY G. R.N. 85, of Woodbury, NJ died Monday in the Artman Lutheran Home, Ambler, PA. Born In Ardmore, she lived in Woodbury since 1926. Working as a nurse at Underwood-Memorial Hospital in 1942 and 1943, she delivered babies with Dr. Underwood. Then, during World War II, she went Into the Army for two years. After the war, she worked at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, PA. From 1951 to 1956 she worked as the Registered Nurse at Texaco, Inc. In Westville.
She married Athos Chandler, who worked at Texaco, in 1956, at age forty. He died in 1992. She was a member of the Woodbury Women's Club for 38 years, and was an advisor to the Woodbury Junior Women's Club. She did volunteer work at Underwood-Memorial Hospital, and belonged to the First Auxiliary there. She worked for the Gloucester County Board of Elections for 18 years, and she also helped the Main Street organization.
She Is survived by one daughter, Betsy Abramek of Maple Glen, two grandchildren, and two sisters, Helen Ashenbrenner of Gibbstown, and Francis Haen of Woodbury Heights, NJ. The funeral will be on Friday, Nov. 2, at 2PM at Central Baptist Church, S. Jackson Woodbury, NJ. There will be a viewing at the church from 12:30 to 2PM.
Burial will be In Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Underwood-Memorial Hospital Foundation, 509 N. Broad Woodbury, NJ 08096. Arrangements by DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, Woodbury NJ.
