Richard Leroy "Dick" Rutherford passed away on Monday morning 10/19/1993.
The eldest child of 11 born to the Lloyd Richard Rutherford Sr. and Willa Mae "Billie" Renfro Rutherford. He went into the U.S. ARMY at the age of 18 serving from 1963 - 1970, he is was a Vietnam veteran. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2910.
Dick married Debra Kroening on February 27, 1990.
He is preceded in death by his father and stepfather, two brothers, two nephews and a stepson.
Surviving are his wife Debra Rutherford, two sons Richard Leroy Rutherford Jr and Mark Alan Rutherford both of Pennsylvania, four daughters Theresa Dawn Rutherford of Pennsylvania, Jacqueline Jeannette Rutherford of Petersburg, Illinois, Shirl Marie Rutherford and Mary Ann Rutherford both of Springfield, Illinois. One stepdaughter Lora Adams of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and one stepson Dale Kroening of Kansas City, Kansas.
His mother Willa Mae "Billie" Rutherford of Palmyra, Illinois, Grandfather Harry E. Renfro of Fiftian, Illinois. Two Great Uncle's Paul Bush and Carl Bush both of Kentucky. One Uncle Harry W. Lawson of Springfield, Illinois. Two aunt's Helen Rutherford and Marie Rutherford both of Springfield, Illinois.
Four brothers James E., William J., Lloyd R. and Michael L. all of Springfield, Illinois.
Four sisters Lois Grubb of Palmyra, Illinois Harriett Mohr and Anita Waters both of Springfield, Illinois and Laura Leigh Rutherford of Banner, Illinois. One step sister Trudy Rutherford of Chicago, Illinois and two step brothers, Louis Rutherford of Springfield, Illinois and Thomas Rutherford of Chicago. Also surviving is one brother in law, several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
He was a certified nurse's aide at Walnut Ridge Healthcare Center. He loved to go fishing, except for when his fishing pole would get tangled up and if he couldn't get it out he would throw the pole in the water. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals on t.v.
