Married Barbara Shoup and had 4 children: Cyrus, Sarah, Susan and Caroline. After Barbara's death in 1858, married Sarah Ward and had 5 more children: Milton, Sterling, Charles, Adelbert, and Alice. George served as a Private in Co. D, 68th Ohio Infantry during the Civil War. His nephew, Andrew Altman, served in the same Company. Reenlisted at Vicksburg, MS, where they served during the siege of that city. Moved to MI after the war, and eventually settled on 160 acres NE of Boon, in Wexford county.
