My second great-aunt, Matilda Evaline COLBERT Duty was the daughter of George Colbert and Caroline WELLS Colbert and was born in Illinois.
On September 21, 1871, she married Samuel Lemuel Duty, son of John R. Duty and Matilida Elizabeth BOYT Duty. Samuel Lemuel was a brother to my great-grandfather, James G.A. Duty.
Matilda, called Tildie, and Samuel Lemuel were the parents of several children who included Tabitha, Leona, Nancy E., Missouri E., Alice, and a son named Albert who died at age one week.
Matilda Evaline COLBERT Duty is buried here with quite a few members of her family, including her husband, Samuel Lemuel Duty, and her baby boy, Thomas Albert.
She was very much loved and missed by all. Her headstone reads "Tildie".
