Born Sept. 14, 1923, in Artesian, S.D., he was the son of Verner and Glenna Henry Wolfe. On May 17, 1942, he married Elizabeth M. Varney in Kahoka, Mo.
Mr. Wolfe worked 40 years at the Farm Implement Co. in Washington where he was an implement mechanic. After his retirement in 1985, he continued working for the farm company for a few more years. In the 1940s, he worked at a concrete company and bean plant in Washington. He lived most of his life in Washington County. He attended school in South Dakota and in Brighton.
He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Country Travelers Chapter of the Iowa Good Sams Camping Club. In his earlier days, he enjoyed bowling. He liked camping, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert Wolfe of South English, Don Wolfe of Conesville, and Dennis Wolfe of Washington; one daughter, Gwen Shepherd of Washington; 19 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Celebration of Life services for Mr. Wolfe will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Jones Eden Funeral Home with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington.
