Colette Marie Ahlschlager was born May 7, 1957 to C.L. and Audrey (Christianson) Ahlschlager in Marshall, MN. She was blessed to be the first of three girls after four older brothers. She grew up in Minneota. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church and graduated from Minneota Public School in 1975.
Colette had many jobs throughout her life. She worked as a caregiver at the Clarkfield Nursing Home, Gislason Hardware, A&M Bar, Schott Corporation, and Superior Truss. She received a 2-year degree at STI in Canby and became a certified parts person for Sturdevant's in Flandreau; SD. Colette also worked at the Hitching Post and Heritage Point Assisted Living in Marshall, MN.

Colette's love of nature, the outdoors, gardening, flowers and especially her house plants was known by all who knew her. She loved "Daren's Park" as a get-away throughout her life. Fishing, night crawler hunting, finding frogs, toads and salamanders were fun adventures she shared with friends and family. She loved "going barefoot" and getting as much sunlight as she could. She was very talented. She was an artist, a poet, and a storyteller, crafted braided bread bag and cloth rugs, and made one-of-a-kind quilts for her loved ones. She was also an amazing cook and baker with her stuffed peppers, cabbage rolls, and chocolate chip cookies being favorites.

Colette worked hard, played hard, and loved with her whole heart. She was a strong woman and held strong beliefs. She will always hold a special place as a loving birthmother to her daughter Virginia. Colette loved her family, her children and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
