Son of Genola Mundy and Ralph E Yancey, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Cartersville High School, and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. He retired from the Bartow County Road Department in 2009 where he had worked in the sign department. Prior to that, he worked with Nantucket Industries in Cartersville for almost 25 years. He attended the Cartersville Church of the Covenant. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert Yancey. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sandra Chitwood Yancey; son, Michael Edward Yancey of Cartersville; aunt, Ann Summey; uncle, Terry Mundy; and special cousin, Charles Summey.
