Mr. H. Clayton Hugghins, 86, of Panama City, FL, passed away on March 18, 2023 due to complications with a pulmonary embolism. He was born on February 20, 1937 in Red Level, AL.

Clayton earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Troy State University and a Master's Degree in Education Administration from The University of Alabama and taught Physical Education in Bay County District Schools for 45 years (at Tyndall Elementary, Patterson Sixth-Grade Center, and Callaway Elementary schools).

Clayton was a model family man, an avid outdoorsman, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Deerpoint Lake. He was a renowned story teller who left his listeners with a smile.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Alma Hugghins; and sister Jane Hugghins.

Clayton is survived by his wife of 64 years; sister; brother and sister in law; two sons and their wives; two grandsons and their wives; and 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday March 23, 2023 at Southerland Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Cohassett, AL at 4:00 p.m.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday March 22, 2023 at Southerland Family Funeral Home.
