Dennis Ray Fields, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Mercy at the age of 79 years. Dennis was born on August 10, 1943 to Ray C. Fields and Jewell King Fields in Springfield, Missouri. He grew up in Chicago and joined the Marines as a seventeen-year-old, serving from February 1961 to December 1966. After his military service, he joined his father in the roofing profession before relocating to the Springfield/Ozark area where he established and ran his own roofing business for nearly fifty years. Having been saved as a young man in Chicago, Dennis placed membership in Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he used his gifts, building, roofing, providing regular maintenance for the facility and also serving in the nursery.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Sandy Smith, Debbie Robertson, and Judith Ann Fields; his first wife Marilyn; and his son, John.
He is survived by his wife, Janis; sons, Bill Fields (and wife Melinda); LTC Russell Fields, Paul Fields (and wife Allison); grandchildren, Aly, Jenna, Maddie, Jonathan, Alec (and wife, Erin), Audrey, Ivy, and Olivia (and husband, Sam); great-grandson, Drake; and sister, Donna Morris.
A graveside service Thursday, July 13th, at Selmore Cemetery.
