Robert is survived by his sister Lana Charlene Poe, two brothers John and Paul Baldomino, his daughter Karmen Dillon and grandson Maximus Dillon.
As a child he loved trains, the outdoors and of dreaming of 'donuts" in grade school. He had an inquisitive mind and liked to experiment with electricity and built his own Crystal radio. He graduated from Northern Heights in Allen, KS. He was a mechanic at Collins Volkswagen, machinist for Detroit Diesel in Emporia for many years and in later years at Westinghouse Air Brake Corp in Kansas City, MO.
Robert was a train enthusiast and in his spare time worked on the restoration of Steam Engine trains. He enjoyed working with his lathe. His love of trains took him to many places in the U.S. by train travel. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed science, history, Egypt, clocks and watches, complex info of machining, music & religion. He was involved in Basset Hound Rescue for 15 years fostering and working with special needs hounds. He had a great love for his basset hounds and his cat Meko. When he was relaxing, he enjoyed listening to music, especially classical; his favorite instruments were strings and the pipe organ.
He was a member of the National Association of Railroad Passengers and volunteered at the Kansas City Union Station.
Robert was a caring and loving person with a big heart. He was meticulous and went by the motto "If you take care your things, they will take care of you". He will be missed by many. Memorial services are July 15th in Bushong, KS cemetery at 10:30am.
