Dennis Lee Ambry, age 76, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Saint Peters, Missouri. He was born in Belleville, Illinois on May 2, 1947 to Oscar and Agnes "Billie" Ambry (nee Vallow).

Dennis attended grade school in Shiloh, Illinois and graduated from O'Fallon Township high school in Illinois. Following high school, he attended Belleville Area College to study drafting. Dennis loved music and played bass guitar in a well-known St. Louis area band called the Del-Rays in the mid 60's. The band played venues in Southern Illinois and the St. Louis area, and also opened for The Beatles at Busch stadium in St. Louis in the summer of 1966. Dennis then transitioned into the sound industry and worked for Heil Sound where he traveled with nationally recognized bands such as Charlie Daniels and the J Geils band to set up sound equipment for large venue concerts across the United States. This background led Dennis to be hired by St. Louis Music as a Production Manager, and later as a Plant Manager for their production division of the company, called SLM Electronics, in both St. Louis and Arkansas. He held these manager level roles for 27 years.

In addition to his love of music, Dennis had a deep love for his family and was a fantastic husband and devoted father. Over the years, Dennis enjoyed photography and his grandchildren as well as his grand-dogs. He was both artistic and creative, and known as 'Mr Fix It' to his family as he was able to come up with a fix or solution to every problem he encountered around the house. Dennis will always be deeply loved and missed by his family and friends. With his passing occurring on the 4th of July, he will always be top of mind each year as we remember him as our "shining star" within the annual firework displays.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Cathy Ambry; two daughters, Shannon Barton, Danielle (John) Ambry-Fogarty; two sons, Jay (Kathy) Ambry, Stephen (Kate) Holley; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Barton, Joshua Holley, Caitlin Holley, Anna Holley, Sarah Holley, Ryan Holley, Emily Holley, Rachel Holley, Benjamin Holley, Shelby Ambry, Alex Ambry; Brother, David (Doris) Ambry; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Ambry; mother, Agnes Ambry; and sister, Sue Ambry-Mitchell.
