Emil was the son of Martin Staudt and Elizabeth (probably Herlein). He married twice: first to Rose Venturini, on 29 January 1906, in Kings Co., New York; and second to the widow Louisa Helen Gross Remshard, on 14 November 1928, in Queens, New York City, New York. The children listed in his obituary were from his first marriage to Rose.

OBITUARY: "EMIL STAUDT died Sunday at his home, 156 Irving avenue. He was born in Brooklyn forty-five years ago and lived in Brooklyn all his life. He was a painter by trade He was a member of the Church of St. Aloisius, Onderdonk avenue, where a requiem mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 A. M. He is survived by his wife, Louisa Staudt; four sons, Benedict, George, Emil, Jr, and Daniel one daughter Elizabeth Staudt; two brothers, Nicholas and Martin Staudt, and four sisters, Minnie, Marie and Catherine Staudt, and Lora Hafner. Interment will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery under the direction of Frank Darmstadt Sons. Sixty-eighth street and Central avenue, Glendale."
