Edna Joan "Jo Ann" Vaught Stone, 46 years, 3 months and 20 days of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life suddenly on Saturday, July 19th, 1986 at her residence while on the phone with her daughter that morning.

Jo Ann was born in the Clifty community of Pulaski County, Kentucky on March 29th, 1940, daughter of Charlie Vaught and Maudie Wheeler Vaught. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky. She enjoyed being outdoors, going on walks, gardening and spending time with her children, family and friends.

Jo Ann was survived by her mother, Maudie Vaught of Somerset, Kentucky; her loving husband of 27 years, James Edward "Jim" Stone, whom she married in Somerset, Kentucky on July 29th, 1958; one son, James E. Stone, Jr. of Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter, Margaret A. Smith of Science Hill, Kentucky; four brothers, Charlie "Jackie" Vaught Jr., Frankie "Buster" Vaught, Michael Vaught, and Donald "Pee Wee" Vaught, all of Somerset, Kentucky; a half brother, Rudy Vaught of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Janet Stone of Hagerstown, Indiana; a half sister, Mildred Rose West Sears of Indianapolis, Indiana; a grandchild, Josh Smith; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Vaught of Somerset, Kentucky; and one brother, Gordon Lee "Buddy" Vaught of Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held in the Chapel of the Somerset Funeral Home on Monday, July 21st, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. C.E. Jacobs officiating.

Burial followed in the Tanner Cemetery in Somerset, Kentucky.
