Johann came to Philadelphia, PA from Germany Oct. 23, 1748. He was one of the pioneer settlers of Berks County. He was one of the founders and the first Elder of St. Michael's Church. He had 5 sons and 2 daughters.

This memorial was erected by the Seaman Family Association in 1913.

From Lacey Stewart, 6th great-granddaughter of Johann Ludwig Seaman: I wanted to fill in some missing information for his memorial. According to Seaman family history, Johann Ludwig and his first wife, Anna Magdalena (Geshwindt) had 7 children (not the stated 5): Eberhart (b.1752-d.1827), John (b.1753-d.1820), Ludwig (b.1762-d.?), Michael (b.1767-d.1828), Jacob (b.1760-d.1818), Anna Margueretta (Hollenbach) (b.1756-d.1826), and Maria Magdalena (Kaufman) (b.1757-d.1838). John Ludwig himself was born 12/16/1722, and died 12/12/1797. Anna Magdalena, Johann Ludwig's first wife--buried beside him--was born 5/22/1728 and died 5/24/1798. (Her tombstone is inscribed Anna Maria.) His second wife, Catharine, died 5 months after him, but I don't know where she is buried. I hope this information helps. Sincerely, Lacey Stewart
