Paul Lawrence Ashford was born on January 19, 1935, in Attala County; MS to the late Luke Ashford and Lizzie Wilder.

Paul was raised in Attala Count and attended Kosciusko/Attala County Public School District. He attended Mt. Moriah M. B. Church and later joined New Garden Baptist Church where he accepted Christ into his life at an early age.

After his education, he worked for Hart McGowan Construction Company until his retirement.

He had an amazing gift of singing, which he demonstrated as he sang with several different gospel groups of which C. J. Quincey and the Allstars were among the many.

In his spare time, he enjoyed repairing vehicles and spending time with his family. He enjoyed life to the fullest and never met a stranger.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Della Mae Griffin on July 10, 1954, and to this union, nine children were born. They were also blessed with another child in this union and were the proud parents of ten children.

Paul leaves his cherished memories to his wife, Della Mae Ashford of Jackson, MS; children, Mary Fizer (Melvin) of Jackson, MS; Paul Ashford of Jackson, MS; Lawrence (Angela) Ashford, of Jackson, MS; Willie (Chantry) Ashford ofJackson, MS; Pennie (Willie Williams, of Madison, MS; Ronnie (Radalia) Ashford, of Cleveland, OH; John Ashford of Jackson, MS; Bruce (Paula) Ashford, of Ridgeland, MS; Ron (Tennisha) Ashford, of Jackson, MS; Tammie Johnson, of Jackson, MS. He also leaves his brother, Tom Ashford, of Milwaukee, WI; sister-in-law, Ruth Thelma Edwards, of Kosciusko; MS; brother-in-law, Jimmy Lee (Dorothy Griffin) of Milwaukee, WI; Matthew (Anita) Scott, of Madison, MS; Bobbie Nell Carter of Monroe, LA. He also leaves to cherish his memories, twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by sisters, Della Harvey, Bertha Lee Barksdale, and Bertha Mae Hull, and brothers, Luther Ashford, A. D. Ashford, Sam Ashford, John Charles Ashford, and one grandson, Roderick Ashford.
