He registered for military service in Dec 1917 and served as an officer during World War I from Jan 1918 to Jan 1919. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter born in 1919, Sherman Virginia Poole (aka Hollywood and stage actress Virginia Gilmore). He lived in Long Beach, Los Angeles, California, in 1940 and Mojave, Kern, California, in 1950. He died on 11 September 1962, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 73. He was cremated and his ashes interred at Milton Cemetery, Milton, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.
