Wilburn Asa "Wil" Carrington, 84, of Stout, died Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Hill View Health Care.

A native of Vanceburg, Ky., he was born Feb. 24, 1924, to the late Herbert Carrington and Blanche Hornback Carrington.�

He was a Navy veteran of WWII, a member of Portsmouth First Church Of The Nazarene, member of Rotary Club of Portsmouth, of which he was a Paul Harris Fellow, member of James Dickey Post 23 American Legion and Portsmouth Lodge 154 B.P.O.E, and a Kentucky Colonel.

He was founder and owner of Wil-Car Enterprises Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Opal, whom he married Feb. 14, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Taylor (Linda) of Portsmouth, and James Taylor of Simi Valley, Calif.; four sisters-in-law, Nelle Preston of Englewood, Ohio, Alice Titus of Middletown, Ohio, Mae McDonald of Dayton, Ohio, and Beaulah Horton of Charleston, W.Va.; and four cousins, Kathryn Hanes of Portsmouth, Alma Crease of Wheelersburg, Georgetta Grantham Lagrange of Georgia, and Betty Jo Abrams of Ewing, Ky.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth, with the Rev. Rodney Kincaid officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside military graveside rites will be conducted by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion.

Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association or to American Diabetes Association.
