Pamela S. Carver went home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2023, after a short battle with an aggressive form of cancer.
She is survived by her husband, Bennie Carver, daughter, Tina (Rick) Smith, grandchildren Kaylynn Wallace, Abigail Wallace, Ryan Smith and Aiden Smith, and sister, Deena Youngblood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Shirley Hamilton, her sister, Patty Harvard, her brother, Darren Hamilton and her daughter, Michelle Wallace.
Pam loved the Lord and enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Born in Macon, Georgia on June 28, 1954, she married the love of her life, Bennie Carver, in 1972. Together, they enjoyed 51 years of marriage and joyfully welcomed two daughters.
Pam had a fierce love for her family and her close circle of lifelong friends. She had a way of making a person feel like they were the only person in the world. Those who loved her looked to her for advice and counsel.
She had a special gift for "being present" with others and was a caregiver at heart, always keeping an eye out for how she might help someone else. To her, everyone was "sugar" or "honey" – even if she'd just met you, and if you visited her house at Christmastime, she would always have a present for you. A longtime member of Byron Baptist Church, she and Bennie served for several years as part of the youth committee, and for many years, their lives revolved around the teenagers and the church that they served, and they maintained the relationships formed during that special time throughout her lifetime.
Her family was Pam's greatest joy and she showered them with love. After her daughter, Michelle, passed, Pam and Bennie set about making sure their granddaughters, Kaylynn and Abigail, were taken care of, stepping in as primary guardians, and took great pride in knowing that both had grown to become accomplished, confident, and kind young women.
Her work was important to her, and she always gave it her all. She retired from Robins Air Force Base as Command Spares Management Section Chief in 2022, after 39 years of service.
She was a fine example to others and a Proverbs 31 woman in every way:
"A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family, and portions for her female servants. She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. Her lamp does not go out at night. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. She is clothed in strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat of the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband, also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Pam faced her final battle the same way she lived her life – with courage and dignity. Hers is a testimony to a life well-lived. She gave the love in her heart freely right till the end. The Lord sustained her with the love of her family by her side and friends that carried her when she could not carry herself any longer. The family is comforted in knowing that she was welcomed into Heaven by the Lord Jesus and is walking through the streets now with the loved ones who arrived there before her.
