A. Dale Wunderlich, 82 years old, died peacefully at his home in Ocala, FL on Thursday, April 25, 2019 after an 8-month battle with cancer. Dale was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. He is survived by his wife Pam Levien, step-mother Francis Wunderlich, sister Debbie Wunderlich Benitz,, brother Gary Wunderlich, daughter Kristi Merkel, son Brian Wunderlich, grandchildren Ryan Wunderlich, Tiffany Wunderlich, Taylor Merkel Sandusky, Jordyn Merkel, and great grandchildren.

Dale was the son of Ady and Pearl Beech Wunderlich. He was preceded in death by his sister Joyce Wunderlich Samford. Dale attended grammar school and high school in Prosser.

He was a proud member of the Prosser High School class of 1955. He maintained friendships with many of his classmates and enjoyed returning for frequent reunions.

After graduating from Washington State University, he moved to Los Angeles and served with the Los Angeles Police Department. In 1963 he joined the United States Secret Service where he had an illustrious career protecting Presidents and dignitaries such as John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, Henry Kissinger, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. Under the auspices of the Treasury Department, he conducted many counterfeiting and fraud cases.

Upon leaving the Secret Service, Dale started A. Dale Wunderlich and Associates in 1979, an international security consulting firm specializing in mining security, premises liability and corporate investigations. Dale was recognized as a leader in the security industry and traveled the world conducting myriad investigations in 90+ countries. He belonged to several organizations as a life member of the National Council of Investigation and Security Services (NCISS), a life member of the World Association of Detectives, (WAD), a life member of the Association of Former Agents of the U.S. Secret Service (AFAUSS), a life member and past President of Professional Private Investigators of Colorado (PPIAC). He was recognized and honored with many awards for his contribution to the field of private investigations and security consulting. In 2012 he graduated with a Master of Applied Science from the University of Denver.

After many years in Denver, Dale moved to Ocala, FL in 2015. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying skiing, horseback riding, fly fishing and most recently golf.

Above all else, Dale loved his family and friends. He will be missed. A gathering in Dale's memory will be held in Prosser during the summer. Details will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dale's memory can be made to
