Martin, son of the late William and Eileen (Neely) Tilton Sr., was born on January 1, 1952 in Carthage. After high school, Martin went on to play college football at Missouri State and later attending the University of Missouri. During his time in college, Martin, began working on a local horse farm where he was schooled in the different disciplines of riding and training. He was a self-employed contractor building many bridges in Bates County for over 20 years. After retirement, Martin moved back to the Carthage area where he then worked as a property manager and enjoyed farming with family.
Survivors include his son, Nathan Tilton, and his wife, Autumn, of Lees Summit, MO; his adored grandchildren, Conor Tilton, Olive Tilton, Emma Tilton, and Libby Tilton, all of Lees Summit, MO; his twin brother, Marvin Tilton, and his wife, Becky, of Elkland, MO; siblings, Susan Chastain, and her husband, Paul, of Joplin, Orren Tilton, and his wife, Betty, of Carthage, Dennis Tilton, and significant other Joanne Arnett, of Ohio, Harold Tilton, of California, and Steven Tilton, and his wife, Monica, also of California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by his siblings, William Tilton Jr., Charles Tilton, and Janis (Tilton) McLemore.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Bethany Baptist Church in Carthage, please contact the church or family for times.
