Mary T. Talarico, 100, of Blakely, PA, died Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Aventura at Creekside, Carbondale, PA, under the care of hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore C. Talarico in 1978.

Born February 11, 1923 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Carlo and Mary DeNaro Oliveri.

A native of Carbondale and a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, she was a former resident of Howard Beach, NY, for many years before moving back to Pennsylvania. Mary had been a long-time employee of Pershing and Company, New York City, where she retired at the age of 72. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale, and enjoyed going to the casino's, watching game shows and the challenge of word puzzles. Mary will be remembered for her competitive spirit, especially when it came to playing cards and bowling.

She is survived by one daughter: Joyce Ocasio of Blakely, PA and companion, John J. Brown Jr. of Peckvllle, PA; two grandchildren: Jacqueline Collier and husband, Justin of Manchester, NH and Carla Morris and husband, Thomas of Kearny, NJ; four great-granddaughters: Alexis Alessi, Madison Dinsmore and Jessica and Abagail Morris; one great-great-granddaughter: Amaiyah Kelley; one brother: Stephen Oliveri and wife, Fern of Crystal Lake, PA; a sister-in-law: Palmina Oliveri of Crystal Lake, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one sister: Jeanne Homick; and four brothers: Frank, Joseph, Angelo and Alex Oliveri.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, PA. Interment will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.

There will be no calling hours.
