Dolores "Dee" Anne Shawhan, 93, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Edencrest at Green Meadows in Johnston, Iowa.
She was born in Des Moines, Iowa August 17, 1929 to Edna Ericksen and Roy Witmer and was a lifelong resident of Des Moines.
Dee graduated from North High School in 1947 and began working at Western Mutual in the claims department until 1950 when she became a homemaker.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers, and loved being outdoors, especially at her acreage.
Dee was an animal lover except for snakes, they were not her favorite thing. She could often be found walking around pond feeding geese.
She will be remembered for her homemade "mother love jam". While all of this was special to Dee, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.
Dee was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her son William Ira Pedersen Jr., daughter Kimberly Shawhan, and daughter Rebecca Shawhan Hastings.
There will be a graveside service Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 10:00 am at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave in Des Moines, Iowa.
