TORNADO KILLED 29--SWEPT OVER THE NORTHERN PART OF THE COUNTY SATURDAY NIGHT
PROPERTY LOSS OVER $100, 000
Started Near LaCygne, Kansas, And Passed On Into Johnson and Henry Counties
Saturday evening between six and seven o'clock a tornado swept over the western and northern part of Bates county extending through parts of Johnson and Henry counties. Twenty-one deaths have been reported in Bates county and three in the other two counties. The property damage is estimated at over $1000, 000.00. The width of the storm area is about one mile and the length is about twenty miles. Practically all of the towns on the western border of the county suffered injury, but it is impossible to get news of an authentic nature.
