Mr. Kenneth "Ken" P. Luber, 87, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at his home in Troy. He was born on December 3, 1935, in Pocahontas, IL to George and Alvina (Frey) Luber, Sr. Ken was the youngest of 10 children and grew up on a farm in the Highland, IL area. After graduating from high school, he volunteered for the draft in 1954. Following his basic training at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, he was sent to Ft. Richardson, Alaska until he was discharged in 1956. Using the Korean GI Bill, Ken graduated from Parks College (St. Louis University) in 1961 with an Aeronautical Engineering Degree. He then worked for the Army Aviation Command in St. Louis for 30 plus years, primarily with the UH-1 Helicopter Program.

On January 23, 1982, he was united in marriage to Sandra Brown Smith in St. Ann, MO. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Northroad Community Church in Moscow Mills, American Legion Post No. 94 and NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees).

Survivors include his devoted wife of over 41 years, Sandra Luber of Troy; his children: Kevin (Mark Rex) Luber of Windermere, FL, Bruce (Kara) Smith of Lake Dallas, TX, Charla Smith of Troy, MO, Julie (Mike) Skubic of St. Peters; grandchildren: Garek Smith, Eric (Erin) Luber, Colleen (RJ) Breen, Tayler (Joe) Gardner, Sage (Michael) Ballweg, Cassidy and Braxton Smith; his great-grandchildren: Heidi and Mavrick Breen, Daisie Ballweg, and Willow Ballweg who will arrive in Sept. Ken is further survived by his three sisters-in-law: Susie Luber, Diana Slivon, Debra (John) Rose; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alvina Luber; two sisters: Lauretta Kantner and Mildred Cox and seven brothers: Raymond, Herbert, Omer, Jerry, Paul, Ivan and George, Jr.
