Dewey Leonard Pryor, 69, of Narrow Gauge Road in Reidsville died Saturday, November 10, 2001, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
The funeral was held Tuesday, November 13, 2001, at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Pryor was born in Rockingham County to the late John Allen Pryor and Etta Clymer Pryor. He served in the National Guard and retired from Burlington Industries after 48 years, where he was the plant engineer. He was a member of Ruffin-Stacey Baptist Church and a former member of Reidsville Alliance Church where he was an elder and a teacher as well as a Sunday school superintendent. He was also a member of the choir and the Alliance quartet, a trustee and was the chairman of the building committee.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Juanita Woodall Pryor of the home; son, Charles Pryor and wife, Kathy of Reidsville; daughter, Debra Jones and husband, Michael of Atlantic Beach; grandchildren, Alexandra Jones and Dewey McLeod Jones of Atlantic Beach and Zachary Pryor of Reidsville; brothers, Elwood Pryor and wife, Pauline and Sam Childrey and wife, Mildred; sisters, Clarice Roach and Marie Lewis, all of Reidsville; and several nieces and nephews.
