Bernice F. Bevels-Shiney, age 87, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
Bernice was born on June 23, 1936 in Athens, Alabama to Knox and Beulah Sanders Bevels. She graduated from St. Thomas Hospital Nursing School in 1974. She worked as a Licensed Practitioners Nurse at Miller Hospital and Rehab for many years where she retired.
She was a hard-working person who loved her family. A very beloved Mother and Grandmother. Her entire life was comprised of her faith in God and love of Jesus Christ. She was a long-standing member of Dalewood Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshipping. One of Bernice's favorite memories at church was working with the children in vacation bible school every year doing arts and crafts. Her compassion for people led her to be a nurse but it didn't just stop at the hospital, she was always caring for her neighbors as well.
Bernice loved flower gardening and was a wonderful painter. She enjoyed quilting and embroidering as well. Bernice collected knick-knacks that surrounded her at home, as antiquing was very important her to her. Bernice especially loved all animals and was always feeding the outdoor songbirds and going to the park and feeding the ducks.
She is survived by her Daughter, Karen May; Son, Frank Shiney; Grandson, Jeffrey (Heather) Foote; Great-Grandchildren, Hudson, Benton and Aubrey Foote; Sister, Eunice Milliken; and Brothers, Charles Bevels and David Bevels; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Knox Bevels and Beulah Sanders Bevels; Daughter, Kathy Marie Warren; Brother, James Bevels.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
