He was married to Rosella Ogden Elwell, also of Maine. Their children: Rosalie L.(Murdoch), C. Harry Elwell.
Charles was a resident of the Fulton & Oswego NY areas, working at the Ranco Milling Co. at the Gage Mill. When the state elevator opened in Oswego he moved there and worked as a machinist.
He stayed working at the elevator until 1928, when he went to the Oswego County Tuberculosis Hospital in Orwell until his death.

Funeral in Pulaski
Funeral services for Charles H. Elwell, 85, former Oswego millright, who died Tuesday in Oswego County sanitorium, Orwell, will be held at the Paul Foster funeral rooms in Park Street, Pulaski, Thursday at 2:30. The body will be placed in the vault at Pulaski Cemetery until spring when it will be taken to Maine for burial. Mr. Elwell was a native of Buxton, Me., born there July 13, 1869

Elwell-Died at the Oswego County (sanitorium), Charle Elwell, aged 85 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rosella Ogden Elwell; a daughter, Mrs. Rosalie L. Murdock, Syracuse, and a son, Harry Elwell of Milwaukee, Wis.; also two brothers and five sisters.
The deceased was at one time a resident of this city, when he was associated with the Renco Milling Co., operating the old Gage mill. When the state elevator was opened at Oswego he went there as a millwright.
He occupied this position until he entered the sanatorium in 1928

Charles H. Elwell
Charles H. Elwell, 44, former well-known Oswego millwright, died suddenly Tuesday Oswego County Sanatorium, Orwell, exactly five years to the day after entering the institution.
Mr. Elwell was born in Buxton, Me., July st, 1869, of pioneer stock. He was the son of George and Lydia Allen Elwell. He worked his entire life until ill health forced him to retire, as a manufacturer of feed and grain and as a mill wright. He came to Oswego in 1912 and became superintendent of the Park & Pollard milling on the east side. Later he went to Fulton where he became superintendent of the Renco Milling Company. Upon the opening of the state elevator here he came to this city and was employed as a millwright at the elevator. He entered the sanatorium in 1928.
Mr. Elwell was an ardent hunter and fisherman and having many friends throughout the Orwell section as well as in this city. He was a member of the Masonic organizations, having joinged in Maine.
Survivors include Mrs. Rosella Elwell, Orwell; one daughter, Mrs. Rosalie L. Murdoch, Syracuse; one son, Harry Elwell, Milwaukee, Wis., and two grandchildren.
Funeral arrangtments are complete.
