BRAMWELL-Herman Wiley Hill, Sr., 81, of Box 185, Bramwell, died Sunday July 4, 1993 at an Altoona, Pa. hospital.
Born March 3, 1912 in Coopers, he was a son of the late Wiley M. and Blanche Williamson Hill. He was a life-long resident of Bramwell, and worked in the accounting offices of Mill Creek Coal and Coke Co., Peerless Mines, American Coal Co. and Pocahontas Fuel Co. He was a retired tax examiner for the state of West Virginia, and was a co-owner and founder of Kitchen Builders, Inc. He was a charter member of the Bramwell Kiwanis Club, where he was past president and held a perfect attendance record for 47 years. He was a 1931 graduate of Bramwell High School and a 1933 graduate of Bluefield College. He was a member of the Bramwell Presbyterian Church, where he was a former Deacon, Trustee, and Elder of the Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Cook Hill.
Survivors: daughter, Dr. Dennis (Mary Katherine) DeLeo of Altoona, Pa.; sons, Dr. Herman W. Hill, Jr. of Athens, Oh. and Henry Joseph Hill of Mt. Sidney, Va.; sisters, Mrs. Howard (Hattie) Rigney of Salem, Va., Mrs. Early B. (Honey) Johnson of Roanoke, Va. and Mrs. Earl (Dorothy) James of Bluefield; brother, Hampton Hill of Bluefield; seven grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bramwell Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ward Murray officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, or at the church one hour prior to the funeral.
