Joseph L. Steeber, age 95 of Mishicot, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, July 31, 2023 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.

Joseph was born in the town of Kossuth on February 26, 1928 to Anton and Kristina (Hercik) Steeber. He attended school in Kellnersville and has been a lifelong area resident. Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Korea from 1954 to 1956. On May 30th, 1959 he was united in marriage to Doris M. Haws at St. James Catholic Church, Cooperstown. The couple was blessed with sixty-four years of marriage.

Joe retired from Mirro Aluminum after 35 years of employment. He also worked at Lakeside, and after his retirement worked for many years at Manitowoc Tool & Machining. Work was always a hobby for him. He enjoyed fixing things and would help anyone in need. He was a good man, known by many.

Joe was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus-Council #4807 and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for 62 years. Going to mass was very important to him, and he passed his faith down to his loving family. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with celebrations with family and friends. In his younger days he enjoyed camping, polka dancing, country jams, and square dancing.

Survivors include his loving wife, Doris; three children: Greg Steeber of Two Rivers, Kevin (Marie) Steeber of Mishicot, Lori Steeber of Arizona; four grandchildren: Michael & Robert Steeber, Lindsey (Terry) Dewey, and Zachary (Katrina) Aceret; and six great-grandchildren: Sydney, Venni, Sampson, and Tanner Dewey; Aries and Kailani Aceret; and another great-grandbaby Aceret, arriving soon. He is further survived by a brother-in-law, Wayne Haws & family; a step-brother & sister-in-law, Donald and Dorothy Siehr of Two Rivers; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Kristina Steeber; two grandchildren: Nicholas and Alyssa Steeber; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Larry and Mary Haws; two sisters: Rose (Victor) Polifka, Helen (Leonard) Sauer; two brothers: Tony (Ann) Steeber, Leo (Esther) Steeber; brother-in-law, Ronald Haws; step father-in-law, Vincent Siehr; one step sister-in-law, Delores Russell; one niece, Laverne Orchard; and three nephews: Vernon Polifka, Gary Sauer, and John Sauer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mishicot. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Fr. Christian Raj, assisted by Deacon Dan Gray. Entombment will take place in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military graveside honors will be held at the church immediately following the mass by members of VFW Post #7753 of Mishicot.

Friends may call at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Friday evening, August 4th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. A parish wake service will conclude the evening at 7 p.m. led by Fr. Christian. Visitation will continue Saturday morning at the church from 9:00 until 9:45 a.m.

The family would like to thank the staff of Davita where Joe received dialysis treatments for 8 years for their excellent care. Special thanks also to the doctors and nurses at Aurora Medical Center, and the caregivers of Homecare Health Services & Hospice for the wonderful care provided.

Doris would also like to especially thank her children for all the love & support; and wonderful neighbors: Brian & Mary, and Dave & Stacey for all their help.
