David Lynn Casteel, age 69, of Afton, passed away Wednesday morning August 2, 2023 at Greeneville Community Hospital.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge 692 and The Ottway Community Church. He retired from Parker Hannifan after 32 years. He loved to ride horses, watch westerns, UT Vols sports, and the Atlanta Braves baseball.

He is survived by a son Todd Campbell, 4 daughters and sons-in-law Kaitlin Casteel, Tasha and Roy Roberts Jr., Cristy and Tim Moody, and Kilynn and John Davis, grandchildren Nicholas Roberts, Alyssa Roberts, Savannah Roberts, Zachary and Taylor Moody, Courtney and Ashton Beeman, Caleb Moody, Ashlyn Davis, Luke Davis, Hadley Davis, and Hazel Davis, great grandchildren Elliot Moody, Londyn Beeman, and Zaidyn Beeman, 4 brothers and sister-in-law Jimmy and Marie Everhart, Billy Casteel, Lyle Casteel, and Phil Casteel, several nieces and nephews, special aunt Nancy Casteel.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Selma Casteel, aunts and uncles JD and Margaret Casteel, Charles Casteel, Don and Lena Casteel, Kline "Big Boy" Casteel, Robert and Ileen Casteel, sisters-in-law Carol Casteel, Ora Casteel.

The family will receive friends from 12-3pm Saturday at Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service Downtown. The graveside service will be at 3:30pm Saturday in Cross Anchor Cemetery with Rev. Donna Waddell officiating. Pallbearers will be Tasha Roberts, Nicholas Roberts, Johnny Casteel, Chip Casteel, Caleb Moody, and Jason Everhart. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeremy Casteel, Chris McWilliams, Roy Roberts Jr, and Jerry Ward.
