Swannanoa - James Edward Ledford, 73, of Swannanoa went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

James was born in Clay County, NC. He was the husband of 50 years of Bette Jean Walker Ledford and was the son to William Amos and Inez Teems Ledford.

He was a veteran of the US Navy.

He was a avid motorcyclist for over 20 years. He and his wife traveled to the west coast four time, all over Canada, and part of Mexico on their motorcycle. He was a charter, and life member of GWRRA, NC Chapter I, and was a avid participant in the local toy run at Christmas, missing only two runs during his illness.

He was a devoted husband, loving father and brother and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Burial: Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
